The GED test includes the following four sections:
- Reasoning through the Language Arts
- Covers all the literacy components of the GED tests. You have 150 minutes overall.
- Social Studies
- Covers various kinds of source texts, where you will need to analyze and evaluate the content provided. You have 70 minutes for the 50 questions.
- Science
- Covers two main themes, human health, and living systems as well as energy and related systems. This test also focuses on physical science, life science, and earth-space science. You have 90 minutes overall.
- Mathematical Reasoning
- Covers different question formats emphasizing both workplace-related and academic mathematics. About 45 percent of the test is quantitative problem solving, with the remaining about algebra. You have 115 minutes to complete this test.
